Who we are

Scrolls is an iOS Bible reading app made by Bible Scrolls App, LLC (“we,” “us”). This policy covers the Scrolls app and this website, biblescrolls.app. Questions or requests about your data can always go to support@biblescrolls.app.

Using Scrolls without an account

No account is required to read. The Bible texts — including the original-language Hebrew and Greek — ship inside the app, and your bookmarks, highlights, and notes are stored only on your device. When you use Scrolls without signing in, the app makes no network requests and we collect nothing at all.

If you create an account

Signing in is passwordless: you give us your email address and we email you a one-time code. Your email is the only identity information we hold — there is no password to store, and we use your address solely for sign-in codes and messages about your account, never for marketing.

With an account, the content you choose to sync is stored on our servers so it can follow you across devices:

• Bookmarks
• Highlights
• Notes
• AI chat history
• Reading and display preferences

Each category has its own sync switch in the app’s account panel. A category you switch off stays on your device only.

Accounts and synced content are stored with Supabase, our database and authentication provider. Access rules on the database ensure your content is readable only by your own account.

AI features

Scrolls includes an AI study assistant (chat, and “Ask AI” on selected words), available when signed in. When you use it:

• Your message, the conversation it belongs to, and the passage you are reading are sent to our server and relayed to Anthropic, whose Claude model generates the answer. The assistant may also look up Scripture text and original-language word data on our server to ground its answers.
• Under Anthropic’s commercial API terms, the content of these requests is not used to train their models.
• Your chats are saved to your account until you delete them — each chat can be deleted individually in the app.
• We track your daily message count to enforce the service’s usage limits.

What we don’t do

• No advertising, and no data sold or shared with advertisers or data brokers — ever.
• No analytics or tracking SDKs in the app.
• No cookies and no analytics on this website. Our website host (Vercel), like any web host, keeps standard server access logs for security and operations.

Service providers

We use three providers to run Scrolls, each only for what is listed here:

• Supabase — accounts, database, and sync.
• Anthropic — generating AI answers.
• Vercel — hosting this website.

Retention and deletion

Synced content stays in your account until you remove it. Individual chats, notes, highlights, and bookmarks can be deleted in the app, and deletions sync everywhere.

Delete Account, in the app’s account panel, permanently deletes your account and all synced content from our servers. It cannot be undone. Copies already saved on your device remain there, under your control. You can also email us at support@biblescrolls.app and we will delete your account for you.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have legal rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data. We honor reasonable requests of this kind from anyone, regardless of residence — most can be handled directly in the app, and the rest by emailing support@biblescrolls.app.

Children

Scrolls is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

All traffic between the app, this website, and our servers is encrypted in transit. Database access rules restrict your synced content to your own account. No system can be guaranteed perfectly secure, but we keep the amount of data we hold small — the best protection for data is not collecting it.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will post the new version here and update the date at the top. Meaningful changes will be called out plainly, not buried.
