Terms of Use

Effective August 3, 2026

These terms govern your use of the Scrolls iOS app and this website, biblescrolls.app, operated by Bible Scrolls App, LLC (“we,” “us”), a Texas limited liability company. By using Scrolls, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the service.

1. The service

Scrolls is a Bible reading app: Scripture texts (including the original Hebrew and Greek), bookmarks, highlights, notes, search, an optional account that syncs your content across devices, and an optional AI study assistant.

2. Your account

An account is optional and is created with your email address using one-time sign-in codes. Keep your email address accurate and its inbox secure — anyone who can read your email can sign in to your account. You are responsible for activity under your account. You can permanently delete your account at any time from the app’s account panel.

3. Your content

Your notes, highlights, bookmarks, and chats are yours. We claim no ownership of them. When you sync, you grant us a limited license to store, back up, transmit, and display that content — solely to provide the service to you, and for no other purpose. The license ends for content you delete.

4. AI answers

Answers from the AI assistant are generated by a machine-learning model (Anthropic’s Claude), grounded where possible in the Scripture text itself. Even so:

5. Acceptable use

Don’t abuse the service. In particular, you agree not to:

6. Scripture texts and our property

The Scripture texts in Scrolls — the King James Version, the Westminster Leningrad Codex, and the Textus Receptus — are in the public domain; we claim no rights over God’s word. The app itself, this website, and our formatting, alignment data, and software are the property of Bible Scrolls App, LLC and are protected by law.

7. Termination

You can stop using Scrolls, or delete your account, at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, and we may modify or discontinue features (or the service) as the app evolves. Sections of these terms that by their nature should survive termination — including 3, 6, 8, and 9 — do survive.

8. Disclaimers

Scrolls is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that synced data will never be lost — keep in mind the app keeps your local copy on your device.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Bible Scrolls App, LLC will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost data, arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of fifty U.S. dollars ($50) or the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.

10. Apple

Scrolls is distributed through Apple’s App Store. These terms are between you and Bible Scrolls App, LLC — not Apple. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app and is not responsible for addressing any claim relating to it. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Texas, and you consent to their jurisdiction.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as Scrolls evolves. The current version will always be at biblescrolls.app/terms with its effective date at the top; meaningful changes will be called out plainly. Using Scrolls after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms.
